Default Model 19-7

I just traded with a buddy an got a Model 19-7 .357 with a 2 1/2" barrel. It's a blued beauty, no dings scratches and hardly looks like its been fired. The serial number begins with BSNxxxx.

Can anyone help me with the manufacture date?

Thanks in advance

This is one of the serial numbers that has a wide margin in the SCSW. It goes from BRF in 1994 to BVA in 2003. But the M19-7 started around 1994 and the M19-8 started around 1998 so it should be in those 4 years. Hope this helps or maybe someone else here can enlighten us more.

Thanks, I appreciate the information. I just read some criticism about the 19's after the 19-3. Some people don't rate them. Is there a reason for this..like quality issues?

I have a bunch of model 19's, from 19-2's through the 19-7.

My 4" State Department order 19-7 is just as nice as any model 19 made. Accurate, with a great trigger.

I'm sure that there have been a lemon or three model 19's made. In 39 years of owning, being issued, and collecting them, I've just not come across one yet.

Enjoy your 19-7! Everything you need in a revolver, and nothing you don't! Regards 18DAI.

Thanks for the information and your valued opinion. I guess that some of the issues I read about were due to improper or lack of cleaning, and the use of full house loads. I keep all my guns properly cleaned and in the case of my new 19-7, will use 158 grain loads sparingly.
