I just bought a 10-11 4" heavy. From the outside it looks just like a 10-14. Now, I understand that model numbers can often mean minor changes, but what's the "real difference" between these two models? Also, any info regarding period of manufacture is appreciated. I use Smiths exclusively when teaching firearms, and I always want to answer any questions about the gun my students are using no matter what they might be. Semper Fi ... oldjarhead

The real difference is the M10-14 has the internal lock that started in 2002. Your M10-11 started in 1997. Welcome to the forum and thank you for your service to our country.
