Default Model 66-2 Birthday?

Can someone help me figure out the birthyear on a sw model 66-2 AYH70xx?

Its looks very shinny and new, no scratches, very clean, very, very faint line on cylinder, box is good condition, manuals, cleaning kit, tool, wax paper. Is $600 is good price?

Roy

What's the Spec Ord number on the box?

It's probably an early 1988

That price is extremely relative. Don't forget, most of the guys here aren't in CA, and they regularly pay a little to a lot less than we do.

But in my experience, good to great quality pre-lock models here in CA can go for way more than $600. So, probably a good deal.

It would seem like a reasonably fair price to me.

I'd buy that for $600 without flinching, but I'm in CA too and used to paying too much for everything.

It would go for that price around here, if it had all the stuff listed and original grips.

...or maybe a late 1987.

7293 is Oct 20, 1987 but is not the ship date. It may have shipped in 1988.

Beautiful revolver. I would have given $600 for it, maybe a bit more. Looks in fantastic shape.

I would say that $600 in today's inflated price environment is very good. I paid $540 for this 66-2 in similar condition but with target trigger, target hammer, trigger stop and original target stocks three years ago.

I think you will love your Model 66. I have one of each barrel length except the elusive and costly three-inch version and like them better than any of the other S&W revolvers I have.
