Default Action work (job)

I bought Jerry Kuhnhausen book on S&W Shop Manual. It is excellant but one thing I don't understand is the measuement on the "front and back" of the bottom of the sear where it meets the trigger. Any thoughts?

Because the sear and trigger rotate and have their own arc of travel, there is a space between them that will be larger in the front towards the trigger of the gun.
