Talking Just Picked up My 617 6" from my FFL This thing is sure built beefy for a .22

Just got back from picking my 617-6 .22 up from my FFL from my 10 day CA wait. I finally got to check it out closely, and didn't realize how it is built like a little tank. It is the 10 round model and I sure can't wait to take it out! If it shoots as good as I have heard, it is sure gonna be a fun intermission from the .460's and the .44's, including cost of ammo! What a nice little gun it seems to be. If anyone has one give me a report on its performance. When I ordered it and had it on layaway, all I heard was nice reviews. A lot of you said the 4" was really nice too, even more balanced, so that one is on layaway now too. I will have this one to plink with for now, as the 4" I won't be able to pay off till early January........It sure is easy with all your help and great reviews I get on this Forum to spend the ol' dollars. My wife was feeling left out, and so for Christmas I ordered her the M60 .357 Ladysmith 2.3". This way when I am out I feel she will be a tad more protected than her Baretta Bobcat 21A .22. She sure is gonna be surprised when she opens that box as I am gonna wrap it to look like a shoe box as she wanted sandles. This is why I have to wait till January for the 4" 617. But I figure if I keep her happy then when something comes up that you all are talking about I can get it with out too much argument. Thanks again for all the great advice and reviews.

Just think, 525 rounds for $20 bucks!
You will be a happy man with it!
Give the wife the 4"er your waiting on,, That way you might be able to keep the 6"er once she starts shooting it!!!!
I always shoot the K frame .22s when at the range!
Great guns!!!
I would still like a 3" N frame .22 revolver!!!!

YEs it is beefy. It's built on the same K frame as most of S&W's 38's (and some 357s).
Feed it some good ammo and Enjoy.

Default 617

I recently bought a ten shot 617 and several of the DS-10 ten round speedloaders. So far, I have shot it in two of our weekly speed steel matches. I like it! I did trim down the grip on the left side for better speed loader access. Works great!

I just got my 617 4" after an almost 3 month wait for my lgs to find one. Took it out this past Sunday and it was well worth the wait. Smooth, dependable and FUN. You'll enjoy it.

I have had a 6" 617 for 5-6 years. Always regretted not buying the 4" so I did. It comes in next few days. I thought about selling the 6" but just cannot do it. I love them both. What great guns. Try reloading a semi auto in the time it takes to reload these muchless the fun of shooting them.

These are my favorite revolvers that I own.
