Model 29-4, 3 inch, unfluted cylinder. Realistic Value please.
Absolutely NIB. Appears to be factory fired only. With all paperwork and tools. Product code 101251. Friend is selling this and I don't want to overpay or underpay. What is a fair value on this? Thanks for any input. Please remember I'm stuck in California so I'm sure I'll have to pay a little more than the rest of the free states. c good

I bought two of them in the last five years. One was NIB and I paid $675.00 and one was very used with lots of holster wear for $500. They are quite heavy for carry, but a neat revolver. I kind of like the un-fluted cylinder. Chop

They are pretty nice!
I paid $600 for this a couple years ago, without the stags. Not perfect, but at least 95%.
I'd expect that a pristine example would be running in the $700 + range in CA, but like any sale, that is dictated by how badly the seller wants to move it, and how badly the buyer wants it. ;D

In the condition described you probably will find someone willing to pay $700 for a 101251. Only about 2500 made in 1989.

$700.00 would be right in the "fair" ball park I think.
I bought mine, a 3-inch 29-3, back around 1985 when S&W did the first run of 500 for Lou Horton. If I remember correctly it cost me $325.00 and I had 300 Gunsmithing Services in Denver do an action job and their mat chrome finish. That cost me another few hundred and I wish now I had left the original blue finish. Anyway, much as I like that gun the Mountain Revolver series is lighter and much better balanced in my opinion. Personally I don't like the unfluted cylinders or the full lug barrel. It looks unfinished to me. Others feel different and S&W was kind enough to accomadate both views.

Should have looked at the dates on first couple of posts. Saw the thread title in recent posts and didn't check the date.
