Default M13-3 Question

Hi all,

I just picked up a M13-3. It is a handy little K-frame .357. It is nickel, three-inch barrel, RB, original grips. It is in excellent condition, except the front sight appears canted slightly to the right. It locks up tight on all six, and has a very faint turn line. It has, however, been fired, and has scorch marks on the cylinder and forcing cone.

Can anyone tell me about the M13?

Thanks for your time.

Pook

The 3 inch 13 was issued by the FBI back in the 80's right after the 2.5 inch model 10 I think. I know it was issued by the Clarke county GA PD for detectives (been there, done that). Fixed sight 3 inch 38/357s rule in my book. Its stainless brother is the model 65. Better for toting if it will be exposed to the elements or sweat. You will not be able to wear it out unless you shoot it 24/7 with full house magnum loads. CCPD and the FBI put 158 gr LSWCHPs in theirs. A 78% one shot stop load. DONT SELL IT. you will just be out there trying to find another one. Done that too! Joe in GA

I looked for a long time to fine mine, back in 1999. Pretty much as you describe, with faux ivory and T-Tiler it's about perfect for me. Sure would hate to have to replace it!! Don't know what to say about your front sight?!?! Mine is square to the world.

Default Front sight

What might have happened with the front sight being canted to the right is that the officer complained to the department armorer that he needed to move the sight pattern to the right. Before the owner can cringe, the armorer pulls out his babbit bar and does a round house smack to the sight to move it to the right. Scares the owner to death, but works.
