Here's my 66 no dash, stainless rear sight. This revolver is incredibly accurate.
And here is my 66-1, a former NH State Police gun. How many 66s have you seen with a factory lanyard loop?

Here is my Model 66, purchased in 1979 just after I was just hired as a Police Officer....
I traded with a pal for the stainless rear sight assembly, then added a white outline rear blade. I worked over a pair of Art Jewel rosewood stocks to a thinner, more rounded profile and to accomadate a speedloader. The S&W medallions were pried from a burned up pair of j frame stocks I found at a local shop. Turns out the medallions were off an old model 60 and were stainless too!

I just inherited this gun when my uncle passed away. I am having a hard time actually finding out how old it is and how much it is worth. It is a S.&W.357 magnum mod 66-2. It has a 4 inch barrel. Stainless steel, with adjustable sights. It has 3 screws on the right side and1 in the handle, it doesnt have one in front of the trigger. It is a N frame. On the right side of the handle it has a N in a triangle, and has a Z in a circle, Z coming first, left to right. Its serial # is SCE4 mod 66-2 ACV9474. It has the numbers 07566 in between the Z and the N on the handle. It also has wooden handles.
on left side of grib it has letter S with numbers 14424 under it.

Traded two plastic 380s and some cash for this sweet piece in excellent condition. It is super clean. Check out the third photo.
Lately I have been getting some of my best finds at the local gun shops rather than online.
This one joined the herd in January. Dash 6 Carry Comp.

A 3" with Spegel Boot grips....... gets two thumbs up !!
Always wanted a 4" round butt 66..... but found some 3"ers in the late 80s....... now can't bring myself to have one of my 4" 66s modified.

66-4 with Akers lined holster. The original wood grips look great, but for carry, the Pachs are where it's at.
66-1 purchased new by my Dad in the late 70s/early 80s. Still has all the original modifications done by him when he bought it- bobbed hammer, smooth trigger, Millets and Pachs. I found the early HKS #10M speedloader and old-school DeSantis holster with ammo loops at a gun show. I think they go well with the old 66.

I totally missed your post. This was an old thread where people were posting pictures of their M66's.
The Serial Number is ' ACV9474.' Other than the '66-2', the other numbers usually don't meant much.
I don't have my copy of the S&W book where the ship dates are listed but jusy guessing I'd say late 1982-early 1983.
It's not an N-frame. You a 4" 66-2 which is a K-frame.
As for value, they're all over the place right now. Do you have the original box and paperwork?

My 66
I've posted this one before--bought it new, then embellished it a bit. RR, WO, polished TH and TT, action job, presentation stocks with silver inlays. It will be 40 years old in November.

If the 2 1/2" looks a little too shiny, it's because it was in pretty rough shape when I took it in. It had been dropped at least once and had some nasty scuffs on the cylinder and some other places. After some careful filing, sanding and polishing, it cleaned up nicely.

This is my Model 66-3 Sapo. I had the ramp front sight replaced with a better regulated front sight (the C&S rear sight does not get along with the factory ramp). Most of the work was done by Jim Garthwaite. The front sight was done by Colby Adler. Colby does great work. Jim's reputation and work is pretty well known. The front sight has a gold bead.
