Congrats on your 66-2. I have one as well, just with the 4-inch barrel. They are great guns, you will definitely enjoy it.

Here's the only one I have around presently. It went back to the factory for an action job and the post front sight. A superb shooter. Stocks are by Don Collins.

Don , the Hogues with the medallions are very cool I've never seen a pair like that before. Enjoy the 2.5" , I just had to pass on one locally for lack of cashitis.

I dig the model 66 ,and have had many. I have lately focused on the 3 inch ,and round butt variants.

-2 ,-3 ,-4 ,and -5 , all 3 inch.

Regards ,, Allen Frame

Excellent choice! Hard to do any better IMO! Congrats!

Here is mine for the 150th time. It used to see alot of shooting and was my carry gun for years. It still get's shot with light .38's and the occasional .357 for long shots at milk jugs and is my all time favorite S&W! It shoots like it has an 8" barrel.

66-2 Ashland run

Here is a 66-1 that has a barrel measuring 6 1/8" rather than the standard 5 7/8". This change was made in 1979 prompted by pending changes in firearms legislation. This barrel change caused problems including the gun being disqualified from some competitions that required a 6" maximum barrel length.
