I don't have an opinion on the 327 fed magnum cartridge, but I do on the new 632. I handled one at Gander Mountain and found the gun to feel smaller than a 3" 60 in 357Mag. I don't know why, but it feels livelier. Maybe the black finish makes it appear more compact or the barrel profile.

It is a solid feeling gun with a no-nonsense appearence.

The trigger felt heavier than I thought it should in double action but the single action was fine. Extremely smooth in both actions.

I liked the gun, but don't know if I want to add another caliber.

Great looking revolver. How do you like the 327. caliber. I'm looking at a model 60 to augment my S&W M&P9C carry setup. We spend a lot of time in the woods and I would prefer the 357 for animals we may encounter, using the 38+P for the in town animals we may run into, or run over if I get the chance....

My question is, what is S&W calling the the new 632 in the polished finish if the "old new" model 632 with the black finish is the "-1"? Even the S&W website is simply calling it the "632". Could this lead to any confusion with the original 632 in .32 H&R magnum?

As for the caliber, I think it's great. I too have a stainless 632 on order at my local shop. It will be my new carry gun. FWIW, the stainless 632 does not have the infernal lock.

Are you saying that the new, blued 632's have the lock and the new SS ones do not? I don't get it.

That's what I'm saying alright. I don't get it either. But in the last couple of days I've seen both a spec sheet and a webpage that showed both sides of the frame (they might even be the same). The spec sheet specifically stated "no internal lock". The webpage with the pics also had no lock. Maybe S&W is finally wising up and has come to accept the lock isn't needed. I doubt it but you can always hope. I'm trying to relocate them. Will post link when/if I do.

Not exactly what I was looking for but has some pics and good info. Also note the comment about the 632 being part of the Pro Series line, "meaning the revolver does not have an internal lock". http://www.gunsholstersandgear.com/2...-in-327-magnum

I thought all of the modern, hammerless "Centennial" revolvers were made without a internal lock.

The 632 carry comp model had a exposed hammer, with the IL. The "new" 632 Pro Series is a hammerless, so no lock. (and yes, I want one of the new Pro Series 327's!)

I really wish S&W didn't just keep reusing the 632 model number. It makes my head hurt!

Take care,
Bob S.

Check out Gunblast and his shot show reviews. You will see a new 632 with no lock. I will be getting one. I will tell my wife I "found" it.

Yikes! The sugested retail price is insane. I think an older one would be a better deal, unless you really need a .327.

Suggested retail is what S&W would like them to sell for. Anybody who pays full price is either in a very big hurry or hasn't taken the time to shop around. You can pretty much beat MSRP by looking, even if you have to pay shipping.

Ressurection of an old thread........because.......
I am a .357 fanatic, for 50+yrs, but this .327 world has
become sooooo enjoyable for me and MamaOzo.
I don't know how it slipped by me for so long after the
.32 H&R's came out, but probably because the .32's
before, as I was growing up around them, were so
'cheesy' and limited to handguns I really didn't like.
A year and a half ago(?) a lady in a LGS tried to sell my wife
an SP101 .327, and overhearing the conversation, spawned enough interest that I came home and researched all the loading data I could [very little for the .327FedMag] and found myself in awe at the whole package of ballistics along with the choices of revolvers chambered for it.
The versatility alone is overwhelming !
We shoot a GP100, SP101, Blackhawk, Taurus M327 2" & 3", and a M632 S&W black matte finish Pro Carry.
Just an example.....on the very low end of loading the .32H&R
brass, Berry's 83gr DEWC, W231 powder 3.1gr, [and the ease of a Dillon 550B] we have chrono-ed 950fps from the GP100 w/4"bbl.........and NO recoil felt.
A Performance Center K frame of mine [M67-5] has the first matte black finish I've owned from Smith, and is the reason the M632 HAD-TO-BE the same finish as well.
All of these .32's mentioned above are SWEET and accurate with our loads, and VERY fun to shoot [100's of rounds per trip to the range], but this M632 ProComp is a JEWEL !!!!!!!!!!
