Default Model 34-1 info

My father-in-law showed me his Dad's 34-1 yesterday and I told him I'd find out more about it.
Model 34-1 Nickle 4 inch 22/32 kitgun and serial M19823X which I have figured to 1982 build. It has recessed cylinder but no pinned barrel.
Am I correct in thinking it a transition gun with no pinned barrel and recessed cylinder?
I'm not as familar with Model 34s as I am other S&Ws and wish to verify my info before I give him details.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Brian 41, all modern s&w rimfires have recessed cylinders. A nickle 34-1, cool revolver. Don't clean it with ammonia based solvents and you are good to go. I wish I had one.

Thanks as I informed my FIL nickle guns can't handle Hoppes and he didn't know.

I didn't know if recessed cylinders were still retained as all my S&W rimfires are older models.

Am I accurate with my findings about his gun as I'd like to give him the skinny on it?
BTW he has some nice older models in I frames and 32/20 and some others too. He doesn't drag them out often but this 34-1 was sitting next to my iced tea yesterday and he asked about it.

Brian - you should be accurate with the information you provided. My Mod 34-1 with 4 inch barrel is S/N M194xxx made in 1982, not pinned and with recessed cylinder.

Great little J frame and fun to shoot. When I go to the range to shoot 22s, my 10 year old granddaughter shoots the M-34 and I shoot the M-18.

Thanks for verifying what I thought to be true. I'll let my FIL know the facts about his Dad's gun. He didn't know how long his Dad owned it as he had many he traded back and forth on. He died about mid 80's so probally bought the gun new or about new.
