Default Help identify this holster and determine its value

I recently purchased a PC 686 Hunter. The seller threw in a shoulder holster at no additional cost. The holster is definitely not for the Hunter. I am trying to determine what revolver model it is for and what it may be worth.

Here's what it looks like

Here's a close-up picture of the S&W marking on the holster, followed by numbers 43 and 36 (this makes me think that it is designed for models 43 and 36 revolvers)

Overall, I would rate the condition of the holster as good (on a scale of excellent/like new, very good, good, fair, poor). What do you think it is worth? I don't need it and would like to sell it.

Thanks!

Greetings,

It is a S&W brand shoulder holster designed for a K frame. It looks like yours will hold a 6.0 inch barreled revolver. While the holster itself looks to be in good condition, the after market straps are going to kill their sale - ability (the original straps from the factory would be white cotton colored). This holster is long out of production, but I see them fairly often on flea bay. If you had the original straps, I would think $50.00 would be a good price for that holster. As is, I think maybe $20.00 - $30.00 - ymmv.

Best of luck,

Dave

Thanks for the info, Dave. The shoulder straps on mine are beige in color (don't know why they came out that way on the picture).

That looks like an awful lot of leather for a Model 36.

Yeah, I thought so as well. I'm new to revolvers but the only 36s I have seen are snubbies. This holster is definitely for a 6" revolver.

Most of the older S&W marked leather was made by Bianchi for S&W. The straps are original. The "43" is the product code/ holster model and the "36" you see are a size code...The 3 stands for the S&W frame size K. The 6 is for the barrel length.
I have a 2 slot pancake, S&W holster that was given to me by a Federal Officer (DSS), along time ago for my 4" M19-5. It's for a 4" 19 or 66, the holster was for his 4"service revolver, he was switching to a 2 1/2" M19.
On the back of the Bianchi made, S&W marked holster reads a "B29" for the product code & a "34" for the size code,... ala K-frame, 4".

Thanks for the explanation, Strangelittleman! At least now, I know what I have and what it was made for. Now I'll have to find an interested party to make a sale.

It never ceases to amaze me the good information we seem to get on this forum. Its why I joined years ago after lurking for a period. This above quote came from another new member (the data line says 12 posts.) I didn't see him join, but it looks like we've scored another member with a lot to add to our little group. Its why this is the best place on the internet.

I realize I'm resurrecting an ancient thread, but I just wanted to say that today I bought S&W 43 36 in great conditon. It fits my 6inch m19 very well.
