I love mine. Full lenght ejector, front night site, ported (great for range visits but not sure it if matters in a defensive situation), great trigger. Awesome gun. I got it more for the night sights and full lug than the port, but it does help muzzle flip a bit. The action is much better than a standard 642. No comparison. Just wish it didn't have the dang lock.

They are nice guns, I have carried one as a CCW for two years, it is accurate, the port reduces the kick, but at night it adds to the flash. The side port sends a big flash out both sides that can be seen much more than a non ported 642. Still a great carry piece that loves +p's.

I don't care for ported barrels on a close quarters gun.

I got a couple in, white dot dovetailed front sight, not a night sight. I could see not having a loss in velocity as they add the extra length to the barrel. Pertty smooth action from the factory.

I don't have a 642 powerport, but I do have a 686 powerport. I also have a 686 without the port. Both have 6'' barrels. Difference in recoil and muzzle jump with true magnum loads is noticeably different........noise level is a tad more, but not so much that I can tell with muffs on. I love the PP for the range and for hunting....I have shot 686's with aftermarket magna-porting and did not enjoy them at all, since the blast is directed back and to the side, unlike the PP.
