Worth of a Model 17 Heritage?
A friend has offered to sell me a blued Model 17 "Heritage" in Excellent-plus condition--nice enough that it MAY BE unfired--complete with box and papers. What is a "Reasonable" price? BTW, the "Asking Price" is $700. Thanks. Paulie686.

Granted I havent kept up with the Heritage series on prices.
Me personally would value it on a plane Jane model 17.
So about 500 smackers.
I am sure others will come along and give more opinions.

A carbon steel (blued) six shot, performance center, pre lock, Smith and Wesson model 17 for $700. Buy it quick my friend and then shoot the heck out of it.

I traded a Remington 541T and some cash to a friend to get mine, probably close in value to $700. I don't regret it. It’s a superb shooter, great trigger, wonderful fit and finish and mine cleans up really easy after firing. It may be my nicest shooting K-22, but I won’t admit that in front of the others! The factory stocks don‘t cut it at the range.

That's probably a fair price on a Heritage series gun. Some may think it's high and some low.
The guns I have from that series appear to be well made and shoot well.

I paid north of $800.00 for mine, but I wanted it... so now, I'm torn over shooting it or not, because it's still NIB. Not a terrible problem, though, as I have several other K22s ready for the range. This one has a nice set of Don Collin's walnut medallion stocks, which fit perfectly, are comfortable and look great. Life could be worse...

Here's my old 17-3 (top) with my 17-8. Still haven't decided on shooting the 17-8 "Heritage" yet, but I'm thinking about it... what the consensus? Shoot or not shoot?

SHOOT IT! I would, and i would probably put a set of target grips on it and put the original ones away in the box.

The asking price of $700 is more than fair, these sold for north of $1000 when initially released. My M17 Heritage (blue) gun is my best shooting K22, you should buy it if you want a great shooting revolver.
