Default The cut model 13 completed.

The model 13 I bought for $164. is now completed.
This was a 4" that the front sight had been ground off. I cut and crowned the barrel and round butted the frame.

I sent it to my gunsmith and he installed a brass bead. $20. total.
I've finished smoothing the barrel. Relieved the thumblatch, and the magna grips for smooth extraction and speedloader clearance.
The charge holes have been slightly chamfered.
And last ,an old model 64 hammer I had that was bobbed I fitted and timed ,along with smoothing the double action.

Here are the pictures , $164, + $20. and $35. for a shado leather holster.

Concealed carry on the cheap.

Good luck! ,Allen Frame

Did you flatten the sides of the barrel?
If so, How about a pic of the front of the barrel.
Nice job.
Tell us how it shoots elevation wise please!

Who says you have to spend a fortune to have an effective weapon.
That is excellent work and a prime example for people on a tight budget to follow!

The shotgun bead is what makes it work for me, 358429 and a moderate load of Unique with that long cylinder should make a mugger's day.

I like it. All business, no BS.

Have you considered doing a little more work on the hammer and making it a smooth double radius?

Nice. An inexpensive refinish would be to parkerize it, or glass bead and a blue. Real nice job even left as is.

I have been waiting for your update Allen-Frame, thanks. The bead looks like it will work fine, and the barrel "flats" got rid of the "mith and Wesson" on the side of the cut barrel. I agree, you got a budget take anywhere self defense piece, for a LOT less money than folks are paying for much lesser quality handguns. Good save, and good use of your money. Now, shoot it...we need a range report...
For what it's worth, I say park it for the finish if you decide it needs it

Thumbs up

Looks great, job well done!
The relief on the mana grips should be smoothed out a little, and stained for a better blend (imho).

When I first looked at the gun I thought it was a piece of junk, but after further review I commend you. I have a couple of guns that don't look good but shoot and carry very well. You have to have a gun that you have confidence in that will do the intended job. Good work for creating something other than another safe queen that never gets used.

Hey all. I will shoot it Tuesday morning on my day off with a variety of loads , and post a range report here, and include it in the title.

The height of the brass bead is .120 from the top of the barrel. The height of the front sight on my other model 13-3 3" is .140

it should shoot a bit high, so a 6 o'clock hold will probably be necessary.

But ,one never knows with such things ,it may shoot to point of aim with a number of loads. We will see.

Regards ,, Allen Frame
