I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but here goes...

I have a nice Model 10-7 that I'd like to upgrade the grips on. I like the looks of stag, but it's a bit pricey for me. Would elk or bone be less expensive? Does anyone have suggestions on where I can find grips made of these materials? I'd like to get a pair with S&W medallions too, if possible. Thanks in advance!

(If anyone has pics of grips like these with a Tyler T-Grip I'd love to see them!)

Elk stag is actually very nice in my opinion. I got a set of panels hand carved from elk stag for my Ruger sp101 and I've been very happy with them. Beats the heck out of the factory plastic, that's for sure.

Grashorns (Executioner) is the way to go for antler. These are very smooth for all the 'bark' on them. I'm saving for my next set already. He costs less than half for the elk (or moose) than the sanbar stag does. He'll put as much or as little 'bark' as you want on them from 0% 'bone' grips that mimic Ivory to nearly 100%

Man, those are gorgeous! Are those small cracks, or grain, or something towards the top? I like it. Gives it a more 'rustic' well-used look.

I definitely think I'm going to have to give Executioner a ring. I'm thinking 2/3 bark coverage on my M10, and go for the 'bone' look on my M24. Now that I've made my decision all I have to do is come up with the funds! (I wonder if I can convince my wife that she really owes me a late Christmas present?)

Well, now you got me started! The first time I'm back to the Forum since Sept. and the first pictures I see are Patrick's grips, and right away the gears start moving around about a barkless set for a certain pre-29 5".

Just the natural brown color pattern of the antler. I got these used but can't see any marks or wear.

I love the cosmetic look of bone and elk designs, especially by the Executioner.

For my heavy shooters I prefer Hogues. Call me nuts, they just feel better.

I have to of 0% elk grips made by Mr. Grashorn they are stunning.He is a true gentleman and delivers exactly as promised.I made mistake on my daughters model 36 thought she had round butt turned out it was square.He made another for it sent back grips and he did not charge me anything extra.Buy a pair your never regret it
