Default 442

I went to purchase/order a 360PD today, but instead fell in love with a 442-2. It has the lock, but I don't care. I can't wait to get to the range this week. I have a M&P360, but I shoot 38+P's through it. So I decided to switch to a 38+P revolver. The difference between the two guns is 1.7 oz, but it feels the same in my front pocket. I am very happy with my purchase, and the 442 will be my EDC J frame.

Good for you Truth! I always wanted a S&W snubbie and when a guy offered me a new 442-2 in a trade for a knife, I jumped on it. It also has the lock and I've found it to be a wonderful shooter and very accurate.

I've shot hundreds of rounds through it and the lock has not been an issue at all. I'm not trying to start anything here but if someone's looking for a GREAT .38 snubbie, go for the 442 lock or not!

I snared this one in a pawn shop recently.. It didn't even have a turn line on the cylinder when I got it.. I corrected that within an hour.
It is the pre-lock version.

I already have a 36, a 640-1 and a 642, but the price was right so what the heck.

I added an ancient set of CT's and it's in my pocket right now.

I bought a pair of these a few weeks back. Hey, I have 2 front pockets....
Anyway, I notice with the CTC grip installed and sighted in at 7 yards I hit a few inches to the right with this grip. I believe the little gun is twisting in my hands.
This gun is a carry gun, nice and light and the blue is perfect for being a discreet carry piece.

I broke my rule on alloy revolver's with a no lock 442. The little beast shoot's quite well and to the sight's and recoil wasent bad for a lightweight.

I've had this 442-2 no-lock since September of last year. I had bought one earlier last year for my wife, and liked it so much I bought one for my myself. It has proved to be "the constant companion of my walks," as Thomas Jefferson put it. Using Barami HipGrips, it just disappears into the front pocket of my Levis. Very comfortable and light; you almost forget you're carrying.

Got one too. A non-lock version.
Ross Leather makes a very nice belt holster w/ thumb break. With a black holster and black grip, the little snubbie almost disappears on our belt. Not much bigger than some cell phones.
The DeSantis "Nemisis" front pocket holster is great too.
The 442 is my anytime carry companion along with a couple of speed-loaders.

Bought one, but my wife kinda took up with it. That tends to happen to me every now and them.

I still don't understand why the no lock, +P rated 642s are marked 642-1 and the same in 442 are marked 442-2.

I bought my wife one for Christmas last year. I ended up with it and carry it about 40% of the time alternating with a Kel Tec P3AT. It fits nicely in my rear pants pocket with a pocket holster. I am very fond of it. First new S&W I have bought since the addition of the zit. Nice to have the no lock version.

Regards,

Chuck

I had a 36 that I carried for many years and also a 37. Barami HipGrip and I was set to go. I carried it tucked in my belt and it always stayed put.
I loved to walk in the woods and bust pine cones off the ground with the little guns. I was always amazed at how accurate they were if you learned to shoot them.
Times past and pocket carry more and more convinced me to get a lighter gun so I bought the 442 and added the LG-105 defender CT grips. Picked up a couple of boxes of Speer Gold Dot Short barrel and went off to the range.
First round went off and I looked to see if a lightning bolt had hit me in the hand! Dang the difference between my steel frame snubbies. That little sucker packs a wallop.
I got it sighted in and then shot a bunch of down loaded lead swc bullets. Much nicer. I do always end up my range session with a cylinder full of the real stuff.
It has been my constant companion in my pocket in a Mika holster. I carry a couple of speed strips with it.
Even if I carry a bigger weapon out of the house as I normally do, the 442 is usually in my pocket as a back up. It doesn't do to well with jeans but any other kind of pants or shorts lets you get it into action pretty quickly if you practice with it.
It really is a great little gun.
