Picked up a 66-2 today
Just picked up a 66-2 in trade today. It is in pretty nice shape but has Uncle Mike's grips on her right now. Serial number is ANS11xx. Could someone please give me an idea as to birth year? It is the 2.5" barrel version. Can't wait to get to the range...

My parents are in Emmetsburg tonight (northwest Iowa) and it sounds like it is darn cold there... then again, almost everywhere is colder than Florida (although we did get a bit of a cold front today) thank you for the reply!

Take care of the Hawkeyes in the Orange Bowl on Tuesday for me! Maybe you could send us some of that Global Warming that Al Gore says is gonna kill us dead. Right now it's about zero.

For those of you who have shot your 2 1/2" 66, what kind of grips do you that you like the most? I am sure that I am going to keep the Uncle Mikes but my options for a full size grip are somewhat limited on a round butt.... I think I would like to stick w/ a hard rubber conversion...

My 3" M66-2 has old factory RB wood target stocks. I think Ahrends has a similar grip available. Neither of these are bulkie & conceal as well as they shoot. I do not care for covered back strap grips that extend the reach.
In a synthetic grip, I like the Hogue monogrip, my 4" -1 still has the hard monogrip from it's duty days.

I meant to say that I was not going to keep the Uncle Mikes. Took the pistol to the range today, nice shooting pistol! It is a keeper.

I prefer the Hogue Bantams for any revolver they fit. I have them on my 386NG, and will get them for the M66 I am hunting when I find it. That grip just seems to fit my smallish hands better than any other.

I was going to stick w/ rubber grips but after looking at the above photograph, I may have to reconsider...
