I just picked up a model 29 yesterday for a steal.
The only only modification that I can tell has been made is the magna porting.
There is a tiny bit of rotational play in the cylinder when the bolt is engaged. Just how much play (if any) is acceptable? How much does S&W generally charge for a tune up? This is the first .44 mag revolver I've ever owned. What type of problems do I need to watch out for on this model?
I can feel a little play. I don't have any way of quantifying an exact amount of play, but if I had to guestimate, I would say the outer diameter maybe can be moved 1/64". It's not much, but I can feel/hear it when I manipulate the cylinder when the hammer is cocked.
