Im having some problems finding info about this pistol.
I am suppose to purchase it this weekend and I dont have the serial number to call s&w. What I need to know is what 686 it is? It just has mod 686 with no dash and number, but it has something behind the trigger like a trigger stop adjustment which came on the target champion in 1992 would that still be a 686 no dash. Im unable to post a pic, but can email it. thanks in advance for any help.

The no-dashes were done by 1986, I think. 1992 vintage would be a 686-3.

A 686 no dash was offered in 1980 to 1986 when the dash one came out. According to my 3rd edition of SCSW they had a competitor model in 1991 (104233) from the Performance Center, but by then they were dash three's. I wonder if you might have that model?

it just says mod 686. and it has like alittle nub behind the trigger.
I have never seen one with it on it before. I have a 686-3 and it does not have it if you have an email pm me with the address and I will send you the pics.

was there ever a safety attached to the trigger?

It's probably the adjustable trigger stop.

did this come on many 686 no dashes? I have not seen it on any of the pics. Thats what is getting me they didnt offer it till 1992 on the 6" target champion from what I have read.

its a trigger stop....i have a 686 no dash that has the notch cut for it...mine shipped from S&W plant dec.1981
