Default 640 no dash matte finish special order gun???

folks,
i have a model 640 no dash gun.a fellow sw forum member was kind enough to share some info with me,that these were special order guns for the nypd.if any member would be kind enough to add more info on these i would appreciate it.
how many were ordered?? and if anyone knows,how many were actually made.
thanks in advance,sw forum members for any advice and information

I'll give this a bump becuase it's such a nice Centennial..
NOTE: 100% Forged Parts..Floating Firing Pin with pin threw frame..
38spl lenth cylinder & a Smoother than "Normal" Action that these early Centennials had..
I know Dan aka DC7 has one or more of these & did a thread a while back on them.. I can't get the search engine to work any more so we'll have to wait for him to give you the answers to your questions
