Moon clips for Model 642
I was poking around on the S&W website and clicked a link that showed a model 642 that takes moon clips.
http://www.smith-wesson.com/wcsstore...on%20clips.pdf
Anybody have one?
Also, could I trade out my 642 cylinder for one cut for moon clips (does S&W sell just the cylinder?)

Great link, Kanewpadle.
That may be my next work for my 442.
In looking at the SW website http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/w...04&isFirearm=Y it appears that the new "pro" models are already cut for fullmoon clips...but my cyl doesn't look like it is. Maybe it's only on the newer "pro" models...mine is a couple years old, and not a 442 Pro.

Thanks for the responses. I think I will keep my 642 the way it is and buy that 940 I saw at my local pusher this week. For $350, I think we all come out winners.

If you found a 940 for $350 you'd better get your butt down there and grab it. That's a steal these days! I wouldn't have left the place without it for that price.

In the same vain.
Has anyone had a 629 cylinder shaved for moon clips??
I have had a 940-1 Continental in 9mm for ever, love it. I long wanted to do the same for my 629-3, 5 inch.
To those that have had a shave, do you send the cylinder or complete weapon??
Tx

Just had Helen change my order at Smith from a standard 442 no lock to a 442 Pro Series cut for the moon clips (also no lock).

Did anyone find out if you can just get a clipped cylinder from S&W for the 642? I would like to keep the factory one intact but would like to have the option for moon clips as well
