Thumbs up 586 2 1/2"

I need some help on identifying a S&W model 586 with a
2 1/2" barrel.
I read in the Catalog of Smith & Wessons that there were indeed a few of these made. One concern I have is in this referenced book it states the production code for a 2 1/2" is 103497, while the one I am looking at states on the box a production code of 103500.
The gun looks to have been fired but only sparingly. Since I am relatively new at this any information including what would be a reasonable price for this gun would be??
Thanks, in advance, for any information provided.

My SCSW shows a product code of 103500 as a 2.5" blue, with red ramp 1993. No other info.

Try looking at completed sales/auctions for 586s on the gun websites. These are much less common than the 4, 6 and (probably) 8 3/8" versions, so figure a little higher than any of these you find that have sold in similar condition.

A 2 1/2" M586 is a $1000 gun (give or take), if in NIB or ANIB condition.
These are scarce. There were two different models made, one in 357 mag and some export models chambered in 38 special.
The Export guns (Brazil export) were made in even smaller numbers and would command a premium to the right individual.

Here's a pic of a standard 357 Mag 2 1/2" gun:
