commemorative mod 29?
I picked up a very nice nickel plated 29-3. It has a gold trigger, hammer, and cylinder release. It say's Second Chance inside a heart on the left side of the frame below the latch. The dealer told me that it was a prize from a pin gun match, another person said it meant a second chance at love. Can anyone tell me why S&W made the revolver this way? I can't find anything on the net, My S&W books, or gun value books. Thanks Steve!

As I remember Second Chance was the manufacturer of bullet proof vests in the 70s. Many LE agencies used them. The heart was their trademark.

Seems like I remember Second Chance and Bianchi sponsored some competitive shoots back in the 60's.
Maybe that was a prize from one of those shoots.
I had a Second Chance vest back when Custer was a pup.

Second Chance and Richard Davis sponsored a bowling pin match for a few years back in the late '70's. Don't know about the gun being a prize, as I never shot well enough to win any. Off topic, I was a passenger in a small plane that flew up to Central Lakes, Michigan, to shoot. Pilot called and Richard Davis himself, came out to pick us up in a nice Mercedes. Mas Ayoob was with him.

History of the Second Chance Commemorative .44 Magnum
SMSTEVE,
I found your post about the Second Chance .44 Magnum you purchased last year and wanted to fill in the info for you that I know. My father worked for Richard Davis at Second Chance Body Armor in Central Lake Michigan and I have one as well. 100 these guns were produced in the 80's for Second Chance based on 29-1, 29-2, & 29-3 frames to my knowledge (numbered 0-99 on the right hand side of the frame above the trigger). If you are interested in a more detailed history please contact me via email through this system and I can give you the details of their history.
