Default Ruger GP100 fit a Smith?

I have a GP100 and I love the rubber grip with the wood inlay. Can this grip be put on an N frame Smith? I am buying a new 629 with a 6.5" barrel and was wondering if the Ruger grip would fit it. TIA.

Can't imagine it working. With grips, it needs to be an exact fit. Also, the Gp grips are configured differently.

Nope, the GP 100 does not have a grip frame but a reduced grip "shank" that houses the main spring and what the grip secures to. Just take the grips off your GP 100 and you will see the difference. Also, AFAIK, there is no grip interchangeability between Colt, S&W, Ruger, Charter Arms, or Taurus.

Pachmayr made a rubber grip with a wood insert that fit the S&W. You might be able to find one on evilbay or one of the gun auction sites.
