Default NIB 629 Classic Hunter should I buy it.

My local shop just sent me an email that he has a NIB 629 Classic hunter coming. I like the look of the unfluted cyl thats why I bought my 686 Classic hunter. I have had a 629 Power Port and 627-0 Nframe 357. I have 2 66snubbies now (1 forsale), Model 14 Target Masterpiece, 686-3 6', 686-0 8 3/8', 686-5 4', 66-2 4', and an Encore 454 so do I need to get the 629 in a 44mag Im unsure. I thought about switching the encore to a 44mag. Basically Im looking for people to get me to choose yes or no.

I love mine. It has the best trigger in SA mode I've ever seen on any production gun. AFAIK no one has done any trigger work on mine. I suppose it's possible but I can't find any signs the side plate was ever removed. The trigger is great in DA mode too. This helps make this gun very, very accurate.

It all depends on whether you have a good reason for a .44 mag IMO. I have bear hanging around my yard so I like to have one to carry around especially at night just in case. I know my wife feels a lot safer when I have my 629 with me. I know a beat attack isn't likely. I ran them off with firecrackers last year. But they're back already with a cub in tow this time. I know black bear aren't as protective of their cubs as brown bear are but I'd just as soon be prepared if the time comes. I spend a lot of time in my shop out back at night in the summer. I got a nice hello from a bear about 30 yards away last summer and all I had was a .45. A .44 mag is a much better tool for dealing with grumpy bear.

Well the 44 may be used for deer hunting but I know it would be used for target.

Respectfully, it seems like you are just making excuses to justify the need for it. I enjoy having one nice firearm and that's it. But, if you have disposable income and don't have any other bills or debts, enjoy it.

I used to own a 657 Classic Hunter with a 6.5" non fluted cyclinder and loved to gun. They are sweet shooting guns.

If I get the 629 the 657 is the next one I want to just collect all the classic hunters. If I get it I have to free up some money and space so I have to more a 66-2 snubbie and a 686-4 or 5 4' prelock I dont remeber what is it.

Get it, I have one and love it. I also have a 3 inch with an unfluted cylinder. They make a great pair.

I had a 8 3/8" 629 Classic Hunter that I still kick myself for selling. What is the barrel length of the one you're looking at?
