Default Model 36 Limited Edition

I'm going to throw myself on the mercy of the experts on this forum. Probably the best source of free S&W advice ever. I'm still in the dark as to all of the model designations but I can tell you guys what caught my eye at the local shop. I believe it's a model 36 Limited Edition .38special. Description on the the tag is "unfired, used". It's in perfect condition. Price is $545.00, but I know the owner is a square dealer and we could probably negotiate. It looks just like this pic.
I guess I'm asking what it's worth.

Thanks,

Never seen a new factory pinto but I could be wrong. The $545 tag price doesn't seem out of line but if you can get it for less, all the more power to you- especially in CA

I have seen and handled the new pintos. Nice guns, but not sure if they'll become "collectible".

The price is not out of line with what new Smith revolvers are running these days, but that's not to say that new Smith's are not overpriced. Compared to their used, pre lock cousins which are superior/more desirable and can usually be found for less than what the new models are asking.

A new revolver is just like a new car, once you walk out the store, it depreciates. Unlike cars, the odds are good that the 20-30 year old revolver will run better than the new one. You're better off finding an older, used model in the $250-450 range.

Thanks for the input. I'll probably pass on this one and keep looking around.
