Default Has anyone tried a PERFORMANCE CENTER 629-7 44 MAGNUM HUNTER?

I found a PERFORMANCE CENTER 629-7 44 MAGNUM HUNTER, which looks pretty much the gun from outer space. It looks like it could be fun. Has anyone here ever taken one for a spin?

I took delivery of my new 44 Magnum Hunter on Dec. 14. I installed an old Tasco AccuDot. I took it to our local F.O.P. range and shot 50 rounds of 44 specials moving back from the target while aligning the red dot scope. On my next trip to the range I will use 44 mag rounds to finalize the scope alignment on a benchrest at 75 yards. I will update when that happens. I can tell you now that the 629-7 is better than me. I was lucky to find a never used Uncle Mikes Sidekick scoped verticle shoulder holster on EBay for $15.50. Can't wait to go hunting. Richard

Yep.....I got one of 'em too. One Bad Azz Mo Fo. Accurate and easy to shoot. One of my favorite range guns....even tho it has a long pipe, it balances well even when shooting freehand. Mine is a Lew Horton model, but I have since replaced the wood stocks with the dual compound rubber S&W grips that come stock on the X- Frames....

My Performance Center Light Hunter is quite different. In addition to the appearance differences, it has a removable scope base (if you have this set up for "iron sights only" it has a base that follows the contour of the rib to replace the scope base that drops down in that rib "cut out". This gives it the benefit of a solid recoil lug but without the scope base, the appearance of a revolver without a base. It seems extremely well thought out.

It also has a tuned action. I DID add a "long" firing pin to insure reliable ignition.

Here it is:

Smith has certainly made some interesting revolvers the past few years.
