I think it's a new, new model I'd love to see a review or three on it as owning a 329 is impossible for me (4" barrels in Canada are prohibited).

Don't know about the 329Xl. I've got a magna ported 329PD. It's a keeper, a pleasure to shoot, and can be carried with the right clothing.

I'll be the guinea pig. Ordered one today under the S&W Military discount program but doubt if I see it for a couple of months.

I had not heard of a 329XL before I saw this thread, so I went to the S&W website and there it is. A 329 XL Hunter. Looks like a 329 with a 6.5" barrel.

Had a 329 once but the recoil was just to much. Am hoping the additional 6 ounces of the XL might tame it down somewhat. Placed the order today, am thinking if we are lucky might see it in 8-10 weeks.

Ported?
I have a 329 PD and love it. What does porting do? I take it this is an aftermarket process done by a gunsmith? Does it reduce the kick and lift?
Thanks

329 XL
Sure is odd that there is allmost no existance of shooting reviews for the 329 XL Hunter. I have been pondering purchasing one, but can't seem to find an actual shooting review. I'll keep looking

I finally cancelled the order officially. Seems S&W put this on their web site and still has not made any.

I ordered one a year or two ago when they were first announced. I've checked with Smith about every six months since. None have been made and there is no production schedule for them. I know that very few were ordered so it is possible that because of the low demand none will ever be made.
Judging from the corresponding 357 Magnum which I have this would be an interesting gun but I doubt that I'll ever have one.

Talked to the S&W rep at SCI this week and he told me this revolver has never been built and they plan on dropping it from their web site.

I ordered one about a year ago and when I called S&W in November I was told that there were a couple hundred on order and it was just a matter of time to production. Your recent news trumps the message I heard. I saw one on the outdoor channel and that prompted me to order. It's a bit frustrating that this product would appear as a real product but be nothing more than vapor.

I had been considering one of those. My 329PD didn't work out and I wanted one of those to play with for awhile. Well.............I guess life goes on without one. I'll just keep looking for the elusive 29-5 Classic 5" or 29-5 Classic DX.

Forget it...
I spoke with customer service at Smith and their deliberately dumb employee (DDE) would not answer questions about production, number on order, future plans or anything else. Asked to talk to his supervisor ... He said "she doesn't know anything more than me" and refused to connect me. Good luck with your business model, S&W!
