Talking 310 Night Guard

I just bought one of these. So far it's been shooting fairly well. Recoil with 10mm is not as bad as a .44 magnum, but a tad more than .357 magnum.

I do not like the grips. They are way too big for my hands as I can barely get on the trigger for double action pull. So I'll be looking for some new grips.

I shot some .40 S&W through it also and it grouped pretty good also. It was pleasurable to shoot also and I think for most shooting sessions I will use .40. I may try a couple of IDPA matches with it also, just to see how well I can do with it. The .40's drop in to the chamber fairly quickly, but the longer 10mm cartridge sometimes takes a bump or two to get them to fall.

All my shooting was done at 7 yards only, this time around. I'm hoping to shoot out a bit further, once the weather clears up.

The target on the left is American Eagle 180 gr 10mm. It shot a bit high. The target on the left is a variety of .40, from Winchester to my own reloads.

Here's a closer shot with the .40 target:

Edge ...

Appreciate your review as I've been trying to track a 310 down for some time now. Do you have any idea how muzzle flash compared between the 10 and 40 S&W when fired from your revolver? I'll be interested in hearing and and all info you'd care to share as well as other owner's comments regarding firing characteristics and alternative grip arrangements.

Regards from Colorado,

Tony

that's a real nice looking gun and a good find. it seems about the size of an "L" frame as it looks like the 696 i once had. i found carrying the 696 a bit bulky and the gun was also heavy. i think yours should weigh almost 30 oz or so. is that about right?

It's an N frame...and it's 28oz empty according to SW website.

It is indeed an N frame. And it is very light.

I'm going to try and sneak away at lunch today and shoot a few more rounds through it. I'll try to pay particular attention to the muzzle flash and recoil. I've got some 200gr. DoubleTap ammo that should give me a good indication of how much kick and flash I'll have to deal with.

Well, I would not recommend shooting Double-Tap through this. At least the 200gr variety. After shooting a moon clip of 6 rounds, I could not eject the clip and spent casings by hand. They were stuck and stuck good. I had to use a hammer to eject the cases. One case was even dark colored inside the dimple where the striker hit the primer, making me think that it was partially punched through.

The "flash" was fairly big, but it was really hard to tell in the daylight. I'll have to take it out at night some day to see what it's really like.

Have you found other grips? I have one and are looking for replacements as I need something smaller too.
