Default U.S. Customs revolver info?

I seem to remember a release of surplus US Customs revolvers in the mid to late 80's. I believe they were 686 models with round butts and black sights. The finish was a "frosted" stainless. They came in 3" and 4" versions. I also seem to remember a "CS" prefix in the serial numbers. Am I off base or does anyone recall these? I have been trying to find one that is for sale for years.

What's a fair price on a S&W CS-1 Customs Service gun?

You are right. Those revolvers were part of an overrun order by the U.S. Customs Service. An old friend of mine who was a dealer had a bunch of new ones at the time. Your choice was a 3 inch or 4 inch barrel, both with round butts and frosted stainless finish, with S&W wood magna grips. They were priced very reasonable. I wish I had bought a few. Oh well, hindsight..........
