Just picked up my first revolver today. It is a 2.5 inch 66-2 with a big rubber mono stock. Serial #ADH50XX still waiting on the "Book" so the question is...Mfg date?
Also, when did the 66 stop being made with recessed cylinders? Never mind used the FAQs and found out in 1982, so my deductive skills tell me born date is after 82
I noticed several "dings"/"pits" under the rubber stock on the frame. It was a somewhat impulse buy and did not check fully, had history with this dealer concerning
a previous deal on two Smiths, a Ladysmith 36 and a no-lock 642 Airweight both for $600 and I waffled, left, came back two days later and realized my mistake, LOL.
Also, he said that he does not think the cylinder release latch is original to the gun.
However, I did a checkout test on the lockup and timing and such and all seems to be great (as great as a newbie learning the checkout test online can ascertain).
Paid $325 for her.
Anyway, just wanted to let you all know I am officially a Smith & Wesson owner, yay! Pictures coming soon!!
Aloha,
HIPunch
