Any reason not to send 686 back for "M" stamp?
Just acquired a 686 no dash (no "M" stamp). I'm familiar with the reasons for the recall.
I don't see any reason why not to send it back to S&W for the stamp, but I was wondering if anyone thought I should just leave it alone.

You just never know. And it is free.
And it will affect the resale value. I would do it.

As stated it doesn't cost anything and if they notice any other problems they will take care of them also. If I had lighter springs installed or custom grips I'd probably swap them back out before I sent it in.
