I picked up a 640 no dash 38 special with a 3 inch barrel. I have found very little information on this weapon and was curious as to whether there was many of these made? I am also curious as to what grips originally came on the weapon. Mine was made in 1992, Any information would be helpful.
These were made from 1990-1993. Product code #103764 and the 3" guns came with smooth Morado wood service grips(as pictured). The "Airweight" marked guns that ronnie gore has was product code #103795 made in 1994.
I have posted this pic before but it shows a couple more 3" Centennials they made. My 3" 640 has banana grips on it for my fat hands!

Not marked airweight. Just out of curiosity how hard are the proper stocks to find? I got it on a buy it now on GB for $425 and just like the lines and I have always thought a 3 inch snub was practical. I carry IWB appendix and noted the 3 inch was actually more comfortable than my 640-1 in spite of the longer barrel. A neat gun. I am thinking original stocks or Barami's with a tyler- t grip.
I had one a few years ago, both the gun and factory stocks come up fo sale occasionally. It seem to fall into the "uncommon but low demand" area of collecting.
"Uncommon and in low demand", That was the pitch I used to get my lovely wife to start dating me when we first met!!!! "You know I may seem weird but add some zeros to my w2 and I may cross over to eccentric! Don't let the low demand thing fool you darling, I is uncommon!
