Default Opinion Wanted on 325 PD .45 Airlite

I have found what I think is a good deal on a S&W 325 PD .45 Airlite. I like 45's, but I've never had one of the lighte ones. What do you think of this gun as a carry gun? Appreciate your input. George

Would be a good carry gun, not much fun to target shoot with. I'd say it would make your hand sore. Neat gun for sure. If the price is right, I'd take my chance on it though.

I have a 325sc (clear cote version of 325pd). It is a lot of fun to shoot with 185 or 200 grain loads. The 230 grainers do increase recoil but nothing like say a 357 mag in a j frame.

As for carry, I don't carry mine currently. Remember it's still an N frame and while only 22 oz unloaded is still a "big" gun.

Oh, as for accuacy at 10 yds, the black of the target is gone. And the credit goes to the gun, not me.

I also have a 625-10 2" 45acp/ar that performs the same way. 23-24 oz unloaded depending on grips.

I'd say get one if you can, recoil is very manageable.

I just happen to be wearing my 325PD on my hip iwb holster now. It sure is big in hand but a good holster helps. I sure won't want to be on wrong end of it. I have original grips on it and I shoot 165 gold dots for carry. It's shootable and I wouldn't say it's uncomfortable. I have shot it in IDPA bug gun matches. Great gun.

Several years ago, I picked up both a 4" 325PD and 329PD. Loved both, but needed some quick cash, and decided to sell the .45....

Had a BUNCH of moon clips, both full and half, so range sessions were great when I had 'em all loaded up, but still a bit of a pain (for me). Hardball in the 325 and .44 Specials in the 329 are both very comfortable to shoot, even in extended sessions.

I now carry the 329PD, daily, in either it's Milt Sparks VM2 holster, or the Sparks PMK that I just received yesterday! Carries MUCH easier/more comfortable than my normal Glock carry (same holster).

I happily paid $600./each for these two revolvers, used (but fired very little).

Default 325NG

I have a 325 Night Guard which is my daily carry pistol. They are essentially the same pistol. It shoots very well. I think the recoil is more manageable than a lightweight j-frame with heavy loads. I carry in a Galco Summer Comfort, 4" N-frame holster. The added leather past the barrel keeps the holster in place, but it sits high enough that the cylinder is above the belt line, and not uncomfortable. I'm 6'1" and 180#.

I have one and use it as my EDC in a Simply Rugged holster. Great gun. Recoil is manageable, it is accurate, light, and I find it as concealable as many SAs. I'd say get it and try it out.

I had one for a while. It's a great carry gun due to the light weight. With hot loads, you know it's there but nothing too bad. I just couldn't get used to such a light N frame so I sold it. Also, even though it is light, it's still a big N frame gun and is not as easy to conceal as the smaller K's and J's.

I have one and found it to be a nice shooter. I have large hands and find N frames comfortable and even this one with hotter loads.
I've carried mine some and other than bulk found it comfortable compared to my heavier 3 inch 629.

Cool

I had one, carried nice, shot and kicks hard. The factory grips that i had were not meant to be used with heavy loads. I put some Hogue grips on and that helped the recoil management. I sold the 2 3/4"r but still have my 625-4 SAC. Much nicer In My Opinion.
