Allen-frame, that is a superb collection of one of the finest S&W revolvers ever made, Those are beautiful photos. I have but two 625s---a MG in .45Colt, and a 4" 625-3 Model of 1989 in .45ACP. They are both very accurate and great fun to shoot.........

Here's my mundane 625JM. A great shooter.

I also have a question. As far as I know the 25/625 series are the only guns made by Smith that use the same numerical prefix for two different calibers (.45 Colt, .45 ACP). Why?

I have a 5" S&W M-625 that I use for target shooting. I think it would make a perfect CCW revolver with a 3" barrel though. I really like low recoil of the .45acp round and also the moon clips that it uses.

As I recall, it came with 4 of the metal half moon clips. I picked up a bunch of the metal full moon clips from Sportsman's Guide. I also have a handful of the plastic "Rimz" clips, which are great for range use as they are easy to load and unload without the use of a tool....

The holster is a Model 77 "Tortilla" rig from El Paso Saddlery:

Just an update. Since I started this thread I 've added a few.

Total of 8 in 45 Colt now.

All Smiths in 45 Colt.

And then there's the O.C.M.D. ( Obsessive compulsive moonclip disorder.)

Good luck
Allen Frame

Mr. Allen Frame,

Outstanding collection! I really like the photographs you post. I have a single 625, my 625-3 3". I take it out once a month or so just to plink at different distances on a hillside. It is one of my nightstand guns. I shoot ball ammo and 45 Super for fun, Golden Saber for defensive use. The trigger pull weight/smoothness is outstanding.

My 625-8 five inch wearing a set of Performance Center grips purchased from the forum classifieds. She is a pure joy to shoot.
