Default What is a 28-3 worth

I went to the local gun shop yesterday. The dealer has a model 28-3 with a 6" barrel its probally 80-85%. He has the box and all of the paper work but no cleaning kit. He is asking $600 for it is that a fair price?

I'm not sure about the condition you are describing but I saw one on a show table 3 weeks ago sell for $625. It was probably 98-99% in the original box, no tools. Prices are high where I shop. I've seen the more knowledgeable members suggest lower prices. I suppose a look at gunbroker might offer some insight. Hope this is of some help.

Yes, no, maybe. Depends on how many you come across and how bad you want one. The prices on N frames (and most everything else) has gone through the roof in the last little bit.

Unless it was an older model or like new in the box I would say that's a bit high by at least $100 to $150 bucks, but I see some sell up towards that range these days. Those of us who used to buy them for $200 have a hard time with it, but since 28's are no longer made and the new 27's with the locks are even higher, the 'value' gap between the prices on the 27's and 28's is shrinking and I believe the 28's will continue to appreciate, though never quite achieve the prices of the 27's.

Clear as mud ?

A local dealer in my area has 2 6" 28's, conservatively at 90%, for $425and has had them for sale for over 4 months.

I hate these % things because I don't know what a 80% gun looks like. That said, I believe $600 is high for a M28-3 even with the box and papers, unless maybe it's LNIB. JMO.

Looks like around $450 is a fair price for what you described.
