Default Let's see your MOUNTAIN GUNS!

I'll start the ball rolling with this one. It's a 625-6 in .45 Colt, shipped in February, 1996. It has the hammer-mounted firing pin. I replaced the teardrop cylinder release with one of the old-style releases, and the original plain black front sight with the red ramp style. The stocks are Ahrends round-to-square conversion retro classic smoothies. Nelson Ford of Phoenix did the action job. This is what I would consider my ideal trail gun. Let's see whatcha got!

John

Yesterday I saw a MG in .44M as well as a 4" .44M that had been magna-ported. Asking for either one was $800 and both are in excellent condition. Y'all posting pictures of others is not helping me at all.

Here's mine. 625-6 in .45Colt. The other one is a 28-2 highway patrolman. It shoots nicely with the 255gr hard cast Oregon Trial SWC over 8 grains of Unique. The MG is a nice shooter I picked up used a couple years ago for $575 OTD.

Sorry for substandard pics. A photographer, I am not.

Top below is my first, 8/02, S&W a new 625-7 MG my wife shocked me with while we were on vacation Labor Day week. Below it is a LN 625-6, 1996 vintage, I traded for four years ago. It's my shooter these days, saving my sentimental-valued first S&W. Both are .45 Colt - - all-time favorite revolver round.

The top one sports an Ahrends square conversion, with f.g., of cocobolo. The bottom sports the S&W Combats in Dymondwood. An S&W blister-packed $25 closeout goodie from the local dealer 9/02. I haven't seen any other non-rubber grips there since!

They're all Hogue Monogrips in checkered kingwood except the 269 MG which is in discontinued dark rosewood. Thanks.

[QUOTE=Allen-frame;135476388]

Allen Frame;

Curiosity has the better of me. Why did you add weight to a mountain gun by changing to an unfluted cylinder? Don’t you realize that if a mountain bear walks down out of the mountains and crashes through your computer room door with a bottle of A-1 Human sauce in its paw it will have a legitimate claim that you can’t shoot it without a correct mountain gun?

Are both your 625-6s wearing the same “banana” stocks that were original issue on 2.5” 66s at one time?

Looking at your pictures always reminds me that I should squander a fistful of perfectly good gun dollars on a camera someday. I have a background that would challenge yours if I could ever master photography.

Would any one besides me like to see all the production runs of mountain guns listed and detailed in a thread?

Gil

Hey jimmiejoe, the Model 649 is a J frame bodyguard style revolver, NOT a Mountain Gun. Did you mean to label your MG above a 629-4 ? ?
