Default 681 recall?

I have A 681 (early pistol) like new in box that has not been sent back to the factory for the recall there is no "m" stamped on the yolk. should I send it to smith&wesson? I dont plan on shooting it much but some day I might sell it. what do you think? thank you Jens

S&W customer service will send you a pickup tag, it doesn't cost anything and they can check it over while they have it, why not?

You can Google "S&W 581 recall" and get the information on why they had the recall. Then you can make up your own mind, but I think I would still send it in. Don

I got a no dash 686 and sent it back for the modification. But I also sent it back to have it drilled and taped for a scope base. Unless you will be shooting hot loads, you probably will not need the mod, but it is free and they will go over the piece while they have it. Mine came back with a spring replaced.

Now I also have a no dash 681, but have not bothered to send it in for the mod. I shoot mostly target loads in both.
