Default 640-1 Quad port market value?

Posted this on several sites and didn't get much feedback so I came to the source.

I've searched, trying to find a ballpark value of a friend's revo, without much luck. Usually the auction sites and recent sales can give an idea of market value but this 640-1 is a little different and I'm not finding much activity. It's an all stainless Lew Horton Quadport, manufactured in 1999 and the owner estimates it to have less than 50 rounds through it. The Trijicon front sight has a tritium insert that is all but dead, and there are two long ports on either side of the barrel next to the rib. Original retail price was $850, give or take. serial # LHE00xx

Anyone got any ideas of market value, or where to get an estimate?

Here's a link to a pic of A quadport. Note to reader; the gun pictured is not the gun in question... but the gun is clean. It's about 8 guns down, on the left side.

Lew's #1 Serial Number Guns

Thanks for any help

640-1

I paid $900.00 NIB(I hit the "Buy now") about a year ago on GunBroker. IMO, the best revolver for a CCW. Also, I think the halflife for H3 is about 12yrs.

Cool

When there are only 200-500 of a firearm produced, not enough examples make it to the secondary market 11 years after production for a valid pricing trend to be established. There are some exceptions to that statement, like what has happened with the Bloodwork revolvers.

This brings it down to a personal decision. Are you willing to put down enough money to make the seller happy? Is the seller willing to take a small enough payment so you feel you got a good deal?

You mention a retail price of $850 at the time of issue. Remember that nobody buys any new S&W for retail price.

I have had one of these revolvers for close to a decade now. I bought mine used for $375. It is one of three 357 Magnum Model 640s that I currently own. I put the Uncle Miked boot grips on mine.

You do not mention of this lightly used firearm is complete with the original box, paperwork, tools, etc. For this example we will presume that it is complete.

You can somewhat extrapolate value from what other similar models are selling for. For example a used standard production 640s are now bringing $500+. How much more is a Performance Center gun worth? At least a few hundred. So you might want to start offering $650 for it and work your way up to a top end of perhaps $800.

Personally, if you offered me that full MSRP price of $850 you would not get me to sell mine. But I love it and carry it often.

What is your friend willing to take? Only you will be able to determine that.

I appreciate the responses. You guys have given me an idea of the ballpark value. I don't believe he has the original box. This was more of a, "do you want it, if not, help me sell it" offer. Very nice revolver but I don't need it.
