What are your favorite grips?
I have a blued S&W J frame 38 special. I want to put some nice wood grips on it. However its very hard to tell what wood will look good on the blued finish. So what grips do you like

Try Craig Spegel. Google that.
Also ebay, gunbroker, and auctionarms.
Or the classifieds here.
Good luck.

Having grips that fit your hands is important as well. Look at the makers' web sites mentioned above, go to your local gun show and try several types. You should be able to find a pair that look nice and work well, and post some photos for us when you get them.

I like Spegels, and have a couple of sets. But you might look at some of Patrick Grashorn's elk stag, he goes by the handle "Executioner" here on the forum. It can look stunning on a nice blued gun, and is a great choice for CCW.

i kind of prefer stock s&w grips in wood...i use their wood fingergroove combats on many including j-frames..just be sure to keep the stock grips if you have them as they do enhance the value of the gun

I have Ahrends on all my Smiths.
They fit my hand well and are not overly expensive.

My favorite wood grips......
I purchased these from a fellow forum member some time back and love them. They hurt a tad bit with 135 gr. Goldots at a chrono'ed 1200fps. They are to my liking as far as wood goes. I don't have a manufacturer of these, but wanted to show you the light and dark contrast. By the way....Craig Speigel made me some Malagasy Rosewood stocks for my 1958 National Match 1911 and they are OUTSTANDING!!!!!! Good luck in your choice.....Sprefix

I just got the last Dale wood (african wood so I'm told) grips from Kelleyarms.com. But I love the way they look.

Never been displeased with anything from Kim Ahrends - great fit - handsome grips - feel great. Absolute favorites are the 'retro targets' in cocobolo.

I agree with another member that Ivory is hard to beat on an older Smith'. Been looking around for a good source for my 2.5-inch 66-2.

Favorite stocks/grips
Easy to please. For J frames, S&W targets that fit RB/SB; K frames, S&W Magnas; N frames RB, S&W combats that came on 629 DX in 90s; N frame SB, S&W Magnas.
Regards,
Dyson
