640 Pro Impressions
I'm interested in the new 357 640 with the Novak sights and supposedly some tweaking by the PC.
Does anyone own or have shot one. Wondering about what your impressions of the weapon is?
Thanks
Tom

I don't have an answer but am resurrecting this thread in hopes that someone else here can provide the info.
I believe the OP is referring to the 640 Pro with dovetail-mounted night sights, and which is cut for moonclips. It was announced IIRC at the 2010 SHOT Show. SKU according to the S&W website is 178044.
Anyone have any info on it?

640 Pro
I handled both the 640 Pro of which you speak along with the 632 Pro in .327 Federal at the NRA convention in Charlotte. The rep said available "by the summer" for what thats worth-probably not much. The triggers were excellent and the new sites were very nice.
I will be getting the .327. I am very impressed with the cartridge and i like the 6 shots

I'm looking for feedback on this model. If the feedback is favorable it will replace my Detective Special as my pocket rocket. I love my DS but it kind of fragile.
The 640 Pro is "spendy" so will wait for reports that appear on this forum.

Haven't seen the 640 Pro but I understand Smith is swampped with orders. My 442 Pro that I order at the end of Dec is supposed to be at my dealer next week. These were supposed to be available in Dec 09.

Cometpx4, thanks for the info.
My 56 YO eyes don't do so well with the stock sights on my 642 and 649. I am very much looking forward to the decent size sights on the 640 Pro and 632 Pro. I can't figure why S&W hasn't put sights like these on "fixed sight" revolvers before.
I'm thinking about the 632 Pro for my wife. She has issues with .38 recoil (even std pressure loads) in the 649. The 632 loaded with .32 H&R Magnum JHPs might be just the ticket for her.

I have one of the 632 Pro's on order and it looks like it might be one of the longer waits I've experienced. I've had the 632 "Carry Comp" for over a year now, one of three .327 Fed Mag Revolvers I have, and like it a lot, in spite of the ported barrel........

Have not shot the 640 "Pro" model, but have much experience with the regular 640---very nice little revolvers---carry much, shoot little---my friend got a 640 for his wife, she touched-off one round and put the gun down saying that was more than enough! These lightweight little guns KICK! I personally have gone to the small autos (Kahr CW-9, Walther PPS 9mm)---flat, easy to carry, don't kick much and hold more rounds---thats my 2 cents.

Cometpx4: did they have the dreaded lock? I'd really love the 640 Pro to replace my old 640 (no-dash) which has sights that I can't see so well anymore (at 58 and counting!) Even if they have the IL, I'd be tempted -- but it would be my first gun with an IL.

Don't do it!!
Just kidding, But I still won't buy a gun with the lock..
I did once & sold it right away!!
There is the Plug that Bullseye Smith sells..
These new J frames look very nice..
I would also like to hear of someone who has run some rounds threw one..
