Default Model 651 price check & info needed

Came across a model 651 SS 22mag with 2"bbl
earlier today, it has been fired, and has
the original plastic case and paperwork,
and I would appreciate any feedback as
to what a fair price (range) to pay for it might be.

It was a nifty looking little pistol, and I hadn't
seen one before. The fellow that had it said
they were only made for a short time, so
there aren't that many around.
I won't know until tomorrow what he'll be asking for it!

I'd also like to get any information on
the 651 that forum members can share.

Thanks,

The last one of these that I saw sell went for 500.00.
That was a few months ago.

I see that there have been a few 651's
with the 4" bbl sold on GB, but I haven't run
across one with a 2"bbl as yet.

Were the 2" less popular or?

I would think the 651 even in 2" would be less popular than the 63 in 2" due to it being very loud, not very accurate and expensive to shoot. Just not a good caliber in a short barrel handgun. I had a 650 and dumped it quick for the above reason.

The 2 inch is pretty loud. The 4 inch is loud enough.
I have a 4 inch model and it is ammo picky. Certain brands of ammo will shoot all over the paper with no hope of sighting it in.
I use Winchester mostly, and it shoots really good with it, good enough that I can sight it in.
Ammo is between 7.00 and 10.00 a box of 50, but it is not a range gun that you would shoot all the time.
It is fun to shoot. It is loud however, as loud as a 38.

I think it is LOWDER than a 357 Mag. It has a certain "pitch" to it that causes my ears to ring for quite awhile! However, there is a workout for this problem: shoot WRFs in place of WMRs. They are user friendly on the ears and still have a performance edge on 22LR. By carrying 2 WMR Shotshells and 4 WRFs you have the ultimate kit gun for fishing or woods walking

+++ on the noise. And the 22 WMR is just not the best round for a handgun, particularly a revolver. And most 22 rimfires are ammo particular with regard to accuracy. However I have a 651 in 2" and 4", the 4" having a 22LR cylinder fitted from the factory. I really like both, and my 650 also, because even with the drawbacks, they are pretty good shooters, and for defense, if you don't hit the BG the noise will certainly deafen him, and the flash bilnd him long enough for you to escape. I most certainly not want to fire any 22 WMR handgun indoors, outside is bad enough. But like most handguns they have a place, obviously the 4" more than the 2", with the 3" (the 650) hanging in between. BTW the 650 is really accurate, albeit not making the best of the 22 WMR round, which is really a rifle round. On the other hand I am NOT volunteering to be shot with one, or even shot at by one of them. An acquired tase is any 22 WMR handgun...........

It would be a good collector gun, 1241 reported made in 1999, but if you are looking for a shooter a .22 LR model 63 (34, 43) may be a better choice.

Forgot to mention...somewhere in the vicinity of $500 would be a great price. I recall seeing one for sale online within the last 6 months at this price, and it lasted all of about 15 minutes.

I only have a 650 with both cylinders. I can only say it is very accurate with both 22LR and 22WMR ammo. It also shoots both very close to POA, as it is fixed sighted. The Winchester WRF load (WMR cylinder)seems to be the most accurate of any cartridge and the CCI WMR Shotshells are deadly snake medicine. This all adds up to a very usefull kit gun for fishing, woods walking etc.

Was the 1241 figure just for the 2"bbl or all versions?

I decided to make the deal earlier today,
and should pick it up over the weekend.
Then I'll post some photos of it!

Had to give $650 OTD for it, but I thought
that wasn't too bad, since it is in excellent
condition, and had its original
case and paperwork.

I bought it mainly as a collector piece, but from
the comments here on the 651's I definately think
I will have to put a few rounds through it
just for the fun of it!
