I am looking to carry a concealed J frame revolver and have the 60 Pro which fits my hands great. I am looking for a J frame revolver with a hammer and a 2" barrel that is stainless. I do not see a chief's special that fits that bill as most of these barrels are under 2" or are that airweight which is something I really do not want...I keep coming back to the Lady Smith in 2" version. I'm sure I can order a set of grips like on my 60 Pro, just would have to call Smith to see if they would fit. Any opinions on this, am I missing any other models that fit what I'm looking for? I can see my dad giving my a hard time that its a "Lady Smith", I have a Sig and a Glock as well but have migrated back to revolvers for some reason. I also got a 686 SSR which I love as well. I'm looking for a 38 or 357, thanks John

I was under the impression that the Lady Smith (Model 60LS) is identical to the standard Model 60, except for the finish (both stainless, but one is satin and the other is matte), the grips (wood vs. rubber), and the "Lady Smith" emblazoned on the side of the former. Otherwise, they appear to be identical, judging by the description on the S&W website. Am I mistaken?

You might want to look at a Ruger SP101. I almost bought a S&W 640 (concealed hammer version of the 60) when this "little bit bigger" Ruger (spurless hammer) caught my eye. I made the right choice for me; couldn't hurt for you to take a look at one (they come with exposed hammers, too) before you decide.

Goffman, I've *heard* that the Lady Smiths come with a better/smoother/lighter trigger than the standard issue 60; have no idea if that's true or not, but it kind of makes sense that S&W would configure them to accommodate the average woman's hand/finger strength.

Smith makes a standard 60 in .357 with a 2 1/8"bbl

The 60LS has a lighter DA trigger pull if I remember correctly.


My mother has a older 60 in .38 SPL with the 1 7/8" with a Square Butt.

I carry a model 60-10 with the 3" barrel and love it.

Those people who have a problem with the idea of your carrying a Lady Smith, that is their problem, not yours. A m.60 LadySmith is a very good choice, as is a 3913LS or 3914LS, if you are open to carrying a pistol. Just shoot it a lot and learn to be very good with it, which will usually cause the macho types to quiet down.

Thnaks to all those that replyed, I thought the 60 only came in the 1 7/8 and 3" barrel length according to the catalouge but after check what was posted and the wesite I see it does come in a 2". I'm going to call Smith & Wesson today to inquire about the trigger pull. I appreciate the input.

Let us know what they say. I was not aware that there was a difference.

I carried a Model 60 off duty for years and my wife carries the Ladysmith which is the same revolver.

The Lady Smith is the same revolver as the standard. They just put the LS stamping on it and charge more for it. That is true on all the LS revolvers.
I have a Lady Smith and it does not bother me to carry it.

I have carried my wifes 65ls and dont mind one bit. Not a good pic but you get the idea.

I recently bought a 60LS. It didn't cost any more than the regular M60. It came with wood grips sized for small hands - a good thing for me. I learned to shoot single action because my first handgun years ago was a Model 28, and I couldn't hit ANYTHING unless I shot SA. These grips may be a bit small, even for me - but the gun shoots well with them, so I don't plan on changing!

I've read the springs are slightly lighter than the regular M60, but I don't have one to compare it to so I don't know. I will say it has the sweetest trigger of any gun I've owned.

As for it saying LadySmith on the side...don't want to comment on anyone's lifestyle choices, but I prefer having LADY Smith in my pants than MISTER Smith.

I also figure it would be harder for a DA to make me out as some macho freak looking for trouble...it just doesn't sound the same if the defendant says, "When I heard the window break, I picked up my LadySmith revolver..."

Besides, if I get flack, I'll pull out my Ruger Alaskan in 44 Mag. But from results of shooting so far, I think the 60LS is about to become my favorite gun.

Yep, I carry 60-9 LS all of the time, after all, it is for concealed carry and no one is going to even going to see the designation. Not to mention that the origin of the term 'lady smith' refers to a man who is, well, good with the ladies. Similar in context to the term 'gun smith'. I also paid about $100 less for my 60-9 as it seemed not as many buyers were interested in it versus a non-designated M60.
