My new baby S&W 29-3 pic
Well i have been reloading for my new 29-3 3in.44mag.Lew Horton and haveing a ball shooting,,But i'am not at all familer with a short barrel gun like this,,,well i figured out by trail & error how she shoots,i had to get out the screw driver and start playing with the sites,,,sometimes i guess you just have to spend the time and figure out what works by "spending enough time" shooting lots of rounds & messing with the sights everyway possible to adjust 'em i.e. "sweetspot" where they need to hit!I'am happy now!You can see my first 6and second6 all mainly hit to the right...thats where i had to start searching...by moving in a little closer i was able to more pin point my group and reduce it down more...i didnt take any pics of my last few tweaked shots but i was able to hit the little white stamp which should be good enough for rattlesnake/coyote duty..LOL

Very nice, I haven't had my 3 inch 29-10 to the range yet. Sure like the feel and balance of it though.

don't forget it's friday evening. lots of guys look but don't always get in on the action. .lol I'd like to think I'm an exception!! but serriously, regarding the gun, it looks a bit tiny in the pictures to me. I have a 29-2 and 29-3 in 6 1/2 and 6 respectively. they are fun to shoot and get lots of looks at the range. but I'll bet that 3 incher is quite a handful? I'd love to shoot one. looks like fun.

Congrats on the Lee Horton! You don't see those every day; I haven't shot a 44 with that short a barrel either, bet it is a fun day when I do!

Congrats on the 29-3. I had one of those but don't remember if it was a -3 or -4. I foolishly let it slip away.

29-3 Lew Horton, 3"
I have one, also, which I use primarily as a woods gun. It doesn't have K-22 accuracy, but that's not what it was designed for and not why I pack it. When huckleberry picking, it's on my side for predator control, loaded with 240 gr LRNFPs. A 4" barrel has better range, but the 3" is more for up close & personal use, and a little easier to carry.
The K-22 I pack is for head shooting grouse. They make a good team.

Congrats Bear, that's a nice one. I've got three 44mag snubs, and with moderate loads they are some fun. I usually load to about 1100 fps with a K 250 LSWC, that is plenty stout enough for me and whatever needs shot as far as I am concerned.

nice gun, i like the standard barrel and the combat grips.
my 3 inch 29 has a full lug barrel and unfluted cylinder. helps with recoil but ugly as sin.

3" Model 29 Recoil?
Forgive my ignorance sir, Ive never had the pleasure of shooting a S&W .44Magnum. How is the Recoil from a 3" barrel? Isn't it a very hard/strong recoil? Its a beautiful gun and Ive always wanted one, but was concerned with thr possible recoil. Please advice.
Thank you
Nico
