Thumbs up New M21-4 Classic .44 Spl.

I know this item has been discontinued but I just received a new "old stock" model and took it out for it's first shakedown so I thought I'd post my impressions. This thing is a real peach. Very nice fit and finish. Mine is nickel plate and the polishing is splendid.; crisp edges, distinct markings. Gorgeous.

S.A. trigger pull is a perfectly crisp 4 pounds with minimal overtravel. D.A. is amazingly smooth for a new weapon.

I tried some 240 gr. lead Keith handloads at about 850 fps. and with a 6 o'clock hold on a 5.5" bullseye at 25 yds they hit dead center from a rest.

I know there is a varied opinion of the "Classic" series but the two I own, the other being a 22-4 "1917" style, are superb revolvers by any standards.

I have a safe full of 5 screw models including a few pre-war Smiths which I love but I have to hand it to S&W for having the guts to market these Classic line revolvers. They are a little pricey but when you consider the increasing difficulty of finding nice originals (especially here in California) the Classic line really makes sense.

My 21-4 Thunder Ranch was without a doubt the best shooting fighting revolver I have ever shot.
I miss it like hell...

I have a blue one and a nickel one -- they are great guns and I don't regret buying them -- great triggers and great balance -- the blue one lives in the bed with me as a home defense revolver -- I love old Smiths but the new ones seem to be just fine to me
