Default J frame compared to K/L frame accuracy in .22LR ?

For instance, the new 5" model 63 compared to the 617, either 4" or 6".

Accuracy as regards the gun itself, not ergonomics or grips, or anything else that affects accuracy but is related to the shooter.

That there is any inherent accuracy difference between S&W models of the same caliber is a fallacy. There are differences between individual guns as a result of allowable tolerances and, as a result, how close to perfect any given gun happens to be. The most accurate .22 revolver I have ever owned was a Model 34, which is essentially the same as the current 63. There is also no inherent accuracy difference between barrel lengths, it is simply that more precise sight alignment is easier for most people with a longer sight radius.

Other things being equal, barrel length, B/C gap, trigger pull, timing, etc. there should be no difference between them in accuracy. In practicality, the heavier K Frame will probably be shot better.

I'll try and remember to try this out, as I will be picking up my just purchased Mod. 63, 4" later this week. After it gets all cleaned up, I'll get it out and run a side by side test with my 17-4. Unfortunately the 17-4 is a 6" so it won't be real fair. I will use the same lots of ammo, and same bench rest.

I've got both the Mod 34 j frame and the Mod 18 k frame, both with 4 inch barrels. While I shoot the k frame much better I doubt that it is the gun. The k frame, due its larger size, fits my hand better and has a smoother trigger pull. Both help me in shooting better groups.
However the j frame is just a fun little gun to shoot also.
