Default Light Hunter ~ J-FRAME??

While visiting a friend he showed my his house gun... a stainless J-frame .357 Mag with 4" barrel and adjustable sights. It has a gold filled roll mark in script on the side plate saying "Light Hunter" and the serial number is stamped on the left side of the frame between the trigger and cylinder... a serial composed of 3-4 letters followed by a 4-5 digit number. He tells me it is one of a very limited factory run. Does this ring any bells with anyone? I can't find mention of it anywhere.

Froggie

PS Yes I want one but his is not for sale!!

I've never heard of or seen a J frame .357 with a 4 inch barrel. 3 inches is about it,plus the new 5 inch Model 60.

SCS&W III mentions a 3 inch Model 60 with a full lug barrel marked as a "Small Hunter." It also was ported. Perhaps this was it? Product code 102432 which would have been on the box, not the gun.

These may have been made for export as there is also a product code for a used gun imported M-60 also marked "Small Hunter." 602432.

I have a Model 629 Light Hunter. It's hard to fathom that S&W also called a "J" frame a "Light Hunter". Here's mine from the Performance Center:
