Question What height front sight for Cylinder & Slide Extreme Duty Rear Sight

I have a S&W 610 with a Cylinder & Slide Extreme Duty Rear Sight.

I really like the rear sight. It is beefy and provides a great sight picture. The only problem is that I seem to have to raise the front sight to bisect the fiber optic front sight to get it on target at typical IDPA distances (see pictures below).

The revolver came with the Fiber Optic front sight. I'm not sure of it's height. Can someone tell me what front sight height I should be using?

Also, where should the sight be measured from? "A" or "B"? (see last picture).

I was just wondering the same thing and came across this post in a search. It seems the Cylinder & Slide part sits at least as high in the frame as the stock S&W adjustable sight. If you still need an answer to this question, Dawson Precision has a link in its Front Sight section that gives a formula for determining the proper height of a front sight, in relation to where your bullets are currently hitting on the target.

I am not sure what the height is exactly. However, I have the extreme duty rear sights on my 386 mountain lite and the XS Standard dot front sight lobs 158 grain FBI loads dead on at 15 meters.

I just checked... it is .180 inches according to the XS packaging.

I sold off the C&S slide and replaced it with an SDM semi-adjustable sight. I like it better.

Rolan Kraps: As you know, I ran into the same problem with the Cylinder & Slide fixed rear sight on my 627 UDR. The front sight was too tall to work with it.

I replaced my C&S with a Bowen "Rough Country" adjustable rear sight. Similar in design to your SDM, it is fully adjustable and has a square notch that works well with ramp-type front sights.
