I've been considering options to change the sights on my 586. Its a non pinned fixed sight with a red plastic insert. I was considering having a gunsmith mill off the front sight and dovetail in a new site, but I don't know if I really want to do that to my beautiful revolver. Then I came across the Meprolight sight set. It is described as being for the K/L frame guns with the red insert. Sounds like what I have been looking for, but I'm skeptical. Does the front sight replace the red insert? How sturdy would the sight be??? If anyone has any information on this sight it would be a HUGE help to me if you would share. If you have the sight installed and would be willing to share a picture of the fishing product that would be even better. Thanks.

I have a couple, on a 586 and a 29. You need a small bottle of bearing retention locktite. No pics, But it gives a Patrige type profile. The sight may be slightly wider than the blade. I was satisfied. If you don't like it, it can be reversed.
